Washoe County Search and Rescue (WCSAR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization. While we operate under the authority of the Washoe County Sherriff's Office, we rely on public donations and grants to fund our life-saving operations.
When someone is lost in the high desert, stranded in a Sierra blizzard, or injured on a remote trail, our teams drop everything to answer the call—24/7/365. We never charge for our rescue services. Because of this, community support isn't just appreciated; it is absolutely vital to keeping our team deployment-ready.
Every dollar donated to WCSAR goes directly toward operational readiness and team safety. Your tax-deductible contribution helps fund resources like:
Life-Saving Equipment: Outfitting our members with equipment like specialized winter rescue sleds, technical rope rigging, GPS tracking units, and advanced medical trauma kits.
Advanced Technical Training: Ensuring our volunteers receive professional-grade instruction in avalanche rescue, wilderness tracking, and wilderness medicine.
Whether you can give a little or a lot, your generosity directly impacts someone experiencing their worst day. Thank you for standing behind the team that goes into the backcountry when others cannot.
